** Bumped up to include return leg results **
The first leg matches of the quarterfinal round of the UNCAF Torneo Interclubes were due to be played between 26-28 September, but Puntarenas and Alajuelense started and finished their series before most of the round had even been played. The porteños thumped La Liga 5-0 on aggregate to advance to the semifinals, which is surprising given Puntarenas' lack of international pedigree, but not so much considering that Puntarenas have been riding a hot streak in the Costa Rican league (currently top of their group in Torneo Apertura).
Saprissa defeated Victoria by the minimum last night to set up a tight return leg in La Ceiba, Honduras next week.
The other matches of the round are tonight and tomorrow.
Quarterfinal round results:
(1st leg home team result displayed first for both legs, semifinal series grouped together)
Puntarenas 5-0 Alajuelense (3:0, 2:0)
Marathón 1-2 Marquense (1:1, 0:1)
Saprissa 1-2 Victoria (1:0, 0:2)
Municipal 1-4 Olimpia (1:1, 0:3)
UPDATE (9/29, 8:23pm CT): I've updated the post to include the remaining first-leg results. Municipal-Olimpia is going to be a tight series, while Guatemala's Marquense grabbed a vital away goal in Honduras against Marathón.
