USA invited to Copa America '07

This AP report says that the USSF will receive an invitation to participate in the Copa América, to be hosted by Venezuela next summer.  Sunil Gulati has been favorable to seeing the US national team participate in South America's continental competition, but it remains to be seen if he will accept the offer.  With the Gold Cup finishing just days before the Copa América begins, it would be difficult to justify MLS-based players being away from their clubs for so long.  Unless, of course, the league was willing to implement a break during the season - which they have never done.
