With two of the three groups complete, some of the quarterfinal slots are being filled. Here are how things look now:
S1: Canada vs. Guatemala
S2: USA vs. Guadeloupe or C3
S3: C1 vs. Guadeloupe or El Salvador
S4: C2 vs. Costa Rica
As I said in my previous post, unless Honduras and Mexico lose by at least four goals, El Salvador will not advance as the second third-placed team. So it looks like Guadeloupe will be in quarterfinal match #3 and the third-placed team in Group C will play the USA.
Mexico has to defeat Panama in order to avoid the USA in the quarterfinals. They might be able to hold on to second if they draw and Honduras lose, but that's not likely in my opinion. A Panama loss would likely drop them into third place.
A Honduras-Cuba draw, coupled with a Mexico-Panama draw, would see third place decided on goal difference between Honduras and Mexico. Other than that scenario, Honduras can finish in first, second, or fourth place.
So it seems that everyone in Group C will depend on themselves to qualify. And you can be sure that the Gold Cup organizers want Mexico to win tomorrow.
UPDATE: It's also possible for Honduras to fall in a third-place tie with Panama should Honduras draw and Panama lose.
