I think some readers of this site have figured out that I'm a big fan of Carlos Bianchi. And not just because I'm a Vélez Sarsfield fan. He was the one coach I admired more than any other in Argentina, and his feats as a player and manager will always be remembered. That he and his wife traveled to Los Angeles to see Guillermo Barros Schelotto play in the MLS Cup Final says much about the man.
I missed this article on ESPN Deportes when it was written several weeks ago, but I think it might be of interest. Carlos Bianchi presents his observations on the final, the atmosphere surrounding the match, and opines on the differences between the ways soccer is celebrated in this country and in Argentina (and perhaps in other places around the world). I felt it was a fair-minded piece and not at all condescending, which tends to happen when the article is written by journalists from that cold piece of rock off the coast of France. Anyway, read the whole thing.
