The season's coming to a close in several of the top-division leagues throughout CONCACAF, so here's a review of the promotion/relegation races throughout the region.
Mexico: Necaxa are down, and it looks like that will actually happen. (I know, I'm so cynical!) Querétaro defeated Mérida on penalties in the promotion final, and they are back in the Primera División after four years in Primera A.
Costa Rica: Carmelita have been relegated. Santos and Barrio México meet in the promotion final to decide who will play in Primera next season.
Honduras: Real Juventud are relegated. Atlético Gualala and Necaxa will decide the lone promoted team from the Liga Nacional de Ascenso to the Liga Nacional.
Guatemala: The Liga Nacional is expanding from 10 to 12 teams, so one team will be relegated and three promoted. Petapa's relegation was confirmed the final week of the regular season. The promotion finals are set and Juventud Retalteca will face Universidad de San Carlos on Saturday for the first promotion place. The second will be decided the following day when San Pedro plays Peñarol La Mesilla.
El Salvador: Juventud Independiente have been relegated. Alianza FC finished second from bottom in the overall standings, so they will play against the runner-up in the second division. AFI and Marte Soyapango meet in the second division Clausura final. That victor will play Atlético Marte to decide the automatic promotion place, and the loser of that promotion final will go into the playoff against Alianza.
Nicaragua: Bluefields FC went down after what has to be the poorest season by any team in the top flight in CONCACAF (but I haven't checked that). The second division Clausura playoffs are in the semifinal stage, but I haven't received any updates.
