Tomorrow's the start of the 2009-10 CONCACAF Champions League. I have to go to bed right now and I don't have time to preview all of the series, but I'll start with the two to be played tomorrow:
Pachuca vs. Jalapa: Pachuca have the advantage in talent level and match preparation (Mexican league started last weekend, Guatemala's Apertura starts on Saturday). Jalapa are going to deploy an ultra-defensive formation, but I don't think it will matter. Pachuca are just too strong, and they should advance.
DC United vs. LA Firpo: The dropped two points from last weekend aside, DCU have been playing very well recently. The new season doesn't start in El Salvador for another two weeks, so Firpo have been relying on the pre-season warmups. I want to say that DCU will advance, but it will depend on the first leg result. The fact that Firpo host the return leg, against an MLS side, means that they still have a chance of snatching a spot in the group stage.
